Description of Home
Home Overview Doug Rye's Energy Efficient Home is a 3 bedroom, 2-1/2 bath, single level home with 2,400 square feet of living space and a two-car garage. The all-brick exterior features windows trimmed with Cultured Stone.

The stainless steel kitchen features a double oven, a horizontal axis washer and dryer by Bosch, a Marathon water heater, a refrigerator and microwave by General Electric and a one-half induction and one-half radiant heat cook-top by Jenn-Air.

A Watchman security system offers added comfort to the home. Watchman Security Systems is a division of North Arkansas Electric Co-op.

Home Efficiency Features The home is all electric with geothermal heating and cooling, T-corner framing and cellulose insulation. It is completely sealed and caulked and guarantees a heating and cooling bill of only $59 a month for two years. Plus, Doug Rye will pay your first year's electric bill if the home is sold during the three month showing time!

More reasons to purchase this home include the long established reputations of the electric cooperative and the contractor, Jess VanderStek. Also, model homes, with their energy efficiency, are easier to finance with a bank or mortgage company.

The home is only the second house of its kind in the state. Each electric cooperative in the state will be offered the opportunity to build a "model" home in its territory. North Arkansas Electric Cooperative was the second site chosen; Ozarks Electric in Fayetteville was the first. Neither North Arkansas Electric nor Arkansas Electric Cooperative will make a profit from selling the home. The purpose of the home is to educate consumers about energy efficiency.
